My work explores the relationship between our life cycles and those of nature in the context of memory and the passage of time. Materials in the work are chosen for the power of their symbolism. For instance, I use rose petals to convey the beauty and fragility of both cycles. Layering various materials such as paper, text, fabric, etc. are meant to suggest the layers of meaning in the work and/or the passage of time.

I am less concerned with the objects/materials in the work for their own sake, than with the connections the viewer makes with the work to derive personal meaning from those experiences. I consider my work to be open-ended and welcome multiple responses, knowing those responses will depend on an individual’s life story. It has been my intention to speak to the hidden memory of others in the hope of finding a common ground in our shared human experience.
